We always try to promote local events that give authentic experience to tourists that visit the Maltese Islands. Here we will share a very special local event that will take place in Ħaż-Żebbuġ.

Haz-Żebbuġ also known by its title Città Rohan, is a city in the Southern Region of Malta. It is one of the oldest towns in the country, and its population is just over 11 thousand. The name of the town literally means “olives” in Maltese; it derives from the large olive groves that stood in and around the current location of the church and the centre of the town. The town was bestowed with the title of Città Rohan by Grandmaster Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc in 1777.

The Haz-Zebbug Local Council with the collaboration of the three band clubs shall be organising an event with the theme ‘Milied Żebbuġi’ on the 5th December 2015 from 7pm onwards.

The poster is in Maltese, however all the info in the poster is included in this article! This event will mainly consist of a car show, organised by individuals who have experience in several static show and motorsport setups which are making sure that safety is on our top-priority in the agenda. Different automobile models ranging from rare, classic, modern and modified vehicles as well as electric cars will be exhibited. The Local Council has been approached by several car enthusiasts to organise this car show and several clubs have opted to join in. Local and foreign car enthusiasts as well as even non-enthusiasts will surely find this an interesting opportunity to have a closer look at all the cars displayed in a safe environment.

Maltese food and exquisite traditional specialities will also be for sale from the different stands set up by the three local band clubs.

The local council has reached out to various businesses in Zebbug to provide them with the opportunity to show-off their products to the public. All those interested will have an allocated space where they can setup up a mini-display to reach-out to their clients. Businesses include stationeries, animations, traditional food cooking and re-selling of festivity-related foods, and many others. A local rock band – The Travellers – will also be playing live during this event.

Other family attractions related to also the festive season will be displayed such as the presence of a Christmas Father, christmas-based market and even an Aviary display of rare birds of prey will be exhibited to the public to enjoy.

The Haz-Zebbug Local Council feels that this event has a great potential and serves as an attraction also for tourists. Since this event will be held in the beginning of the Christmas season in Malta, this will help de-congestion whilst at the same time promote social, cultural and environmental sustainability to a non-traditional location, Ħaż-Żebbuġ.

Money will be collected in aid of Puttinu Cares! So make sure you will attend this event and while enjoying an authentic experience in Malta you will also be helping those that are suffering from terminal illnesses.
